Chrome Moly pipe is the industry standard for seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe with nominal or minimum wall thickness for high temperature use. Pipe bought in accordance with this standard must be appropriate for bending, flanging, and similar forming operations, as well as fusion welding. Chrome Moly goods are so - called because they contain the elements chromiu m (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo). Cr improves the material's resistance to corrosion and oxidation while also increasing its strength at high temperatures. Mo is known to improve hardenability and boost tensile and creep strength at high temperatures. Chrome mol y pipe is available in over 17 grades and is also known to as "P Grade" materials or simply "Chrome." The most commonly used P - Grades are P5, P9, P11, P22, and P91.
